Chenin

Privacy

Chenin collects very little. This page says what, and why.

In your browser

Your favourites, the day you are planning and your choice of light or dark theme are saved in your browser’s local storage. That is storage on your own device, which we do not read. Clearing your site data removes them. Chenin sets no cookies.

Counting visits

We count visits with Umami, an analytics service that sets no cookies and stores no identifier in your browser. We see which pages are read and which links are followed, such as a winery’s website or a map. We do not see who you are.

Email

If we send a digest of what is on at the estates we list, it will be opt-in. You ask for it, then confirm from a link in an email we send you, and nothing else is sent until you do. Every digest will carry a link to leave, and you can leave at any time. We will use your address for the digest only. The digest is sent through Buttondown, which holds your address and sends the confirmation email.

Third parties

Chenin is hosted on Vercel, which sees the address each request comes from, as any host does. Vercel also measures how fast pages load, without cookies or an identifier. The map on the Day page loads its tiles from OpenFreeMap, which sees the address too. Links to estates, Google Maps and Vivino lead to sites with their own policies.
